Honestly, my daughter and son-in-law just left with the grandkids, Leo and Maya. They were here for the whole weekend. I love them to bits, but wow. They were running and screaming through the house from 8 AM until bedtime. Leo dropped a whole carton of chocolate milk on my good rug, and Maya decided my knitting basket was a fort. By 9 PM, I was so tired I could barely see straight. My back aches from chasing after them. I just want some peace and quiet now. Is it just me, or do little kids get louder every year?

Oh wow, a whole weekend of Leo and Maya! I can only imagine. My youngest nephew was over last week and the sheer volume of his shrieks made me jump every time. I swear, they have a different decibel level!

@fernparting It sounds like you had your hands full! My sister's two boys are like little whirlwinds. We always end up hiding in the kitchen for five minutes just to get a bit of quiet with a cup of tea.

Totally get it. My son thinks his toy trucks have to sound like actual construction equipment. I found myself just nodding along to the engine noises yesterday. It's a lot sometimes!

@fernparting Haha, "running and screaming through the house" is the universal grandchild soundtrack, isn't it? My own kids did that, and now the grandkids are picking up the baton. I just poured myself another glass of iced tea.

@fernparting Oh, a whole weekend! I bet you were ready for a nap. My nephews sound similar, always on the go. I made them a special snack just to get a minute of peace.

Totally. My son's truck noises are unreal. I swear I can still hear the beeping even after he's gone to bed. Coffee helps me power through it.

@fernparting Yep, that's exactly the noise! My kids were the same. Now my grandkids are carrying on the tradition. Pouring myself a big glass of iced tea is my go-to.
