When Meal Prep Fails: My Kitchen Opponent Was a Jar of Sauce
Quote from Budseal on May 14, 2019, 7:21 pmI stop chasing them. I find a bench and sit. If they want me to watch them swing or drop and run, they gotta come get me. I’m in my forties, my knees are shot and I refuse to jog after a seven year old anymore. They learn pretty quick that mom is stationary unless they initiate. Saves my energy and tests their legs.

Quote from Tina1994 on October 18, 2020, 11:26 amUgh that sounds so frustrating. For real, My guy did the same thing, calling me crazy for wanting to talk while he was just scrolling on his phone. I stopped trying to fix it. I just told him I need him to be present or I’m gonna take my energy elsewhere. If he stays distant, mirror that. Don’t let him gaslight you into thinking you’re too much when he’s putting in zero effort. Keep it real with yourself.

Quote from Joyce1967 on June 21, 2020, 4:43 amhon i set clear boundaries day one. told her house rules include no rituals in living spaces. she can do it in her own place or outside. simple as that. been married 12 years, never had issues since. if you dont speak up they just keep doing it. be direct but polite. my dad in law handles the stuff now. works for us.

Quote from jadepollen on August 8, 2020, 7:30 pmI walked away from the gym too. Water retention and cortisol are real messes. I started doing yoga in my living room instead. No mirrors, no scales, just moving. It took months to feel normal again. Your body is stressed, not broken. Give it peace, not punishment. Focus on how you sleep and eat. The weight will sort itself out when you stop fighting it.

Quote from fernvictory on November 6, 2020, 4:46 amI do the same thing lol. Tbh, Hot water is sacred healing after dealing with kids and work all day. If he needs that reset time to just be quiet and clean, let him have it. I usually go in after him so the bathroom stays warm. Just enjoy your own peace while he’s in there. It’s not about control, it’s about survival.

Quote from Helen2000 on April 5, 2020, 1:44 amI just say no and stop explaining myself. My body, my rules. If he cant handle that we done. I used to feel bad but now I see it as lazy communication on my part. You dont owe anyone access to yourself. Just be clear and consistent. If guilt creeps in remind yourself that you are allowed to rest too.

Quote from IndigoSun on February 29, 2020, 11:36 pmyeah my tribe does smudging before class now. i just do 15 mins of sun salutations in my living room while listening to rain sounds. saves the drive and the frustration. honestly its just easier to move on your own time without dealing with cancellation emails. hope you find a rhythm that works for u too.

Quote from Daleworks on April 24, 2020, 11:58 pmhonestly I tell him straight up that I dont need those details. if he keeps bringing her name up I just stop listening and change the topic. you dont get paid to hear about his past drama so dont let him dump it on you. keep it light and make him focus on us. if he cant let go maybe he should be talking to his shrink not you. simple as that.

Quote from Simplelife1987 on March 18, 2021, 9:41 pmhonestly just sleep and cheap wine. i stopped trying to be productive for like a month. lay on the couch, read trashy novels, ignore emails. ur brain is fried from the conflict so it needs rest not solutions. if i feel guilty for doing nothing i remind myself that surviving is enough right now. buy groceries that require zero prep.
