My sari pallu became a dish towel AGAIN! Any tips?

Hope you all are having a lovely week. I wanted to share something that has brought me such an unexpected joy lately. You know, since coming to America, I often miss the little things from home, like the specific smell of a market or the way aunties bargain for vegetables. My husband, bless his heart, he tries to help but he doesn't quite understand it.
Anyway, last Saturday, I went to a new fabric store, Fabricland, just outside of town. It was so big, full of colorful bolts, and the lady working there, she was so kind. I ended up buying a few yards of a beautiful cotton print, like a block print from Jaipur. I had no plan really, but then I started hand, sewing a small pillow cover. It has been years since I did any silai, kadai. Just the simple rhythm of the needle going in and out, the fabric in my hands, it felt so calming, like a meditation. It made me feel connected to my mother and nani.
Does anyone else find joy in these quiet, hands, on hobbies? What small activity brings you that sense of peace or connection? I would love to hear!
