Finally forgave my mom for her 'tiger mom' phases… and I’m crying in Starbucks over kimchi
Quote from scarletpond on August 29, 2026, 2:01 amI stopped by that little Korean beauty supply store on 9th Street last Tuesday, the one with the mismatched outdoor plants and the bell that jingles too loudly. I was hunting for that one white clay mask everyone at work keeps raving about, but the only one left was the last tube in the back corner. I bought it anyway, even though it’s $38 and I’m supposed to be saving for my cousin’s graduation gift.
Sometimes I wonder if I’m supposed to feel guilty about dropping that much on myself when there are so many bigger things to worry about, like my student loans or the fact that my meditation app keeps sending push notifications about unfinished sessions. Do you think spending on little luxuries like this counts as self, care or just avoidance?
