Finally forgave my mom for her 'tiger mom' phases… and I’m crying in Starbucks over kimchi

I stopped by that little Korean beauty supply store on 9th Street last Tuesday, the one with the mismatched outdoor plants and the bell that jingles too loudly. I was hunting for that one white clay mask everyone at work keeps raving about, but the only one left was the last tube in the back corner. I bought it anyway, even though it’s $38 and I’m supposed to be saving for my cousin’s graduation gift.

Sometimes I wonder if I’m supposed to feel guilty about dropping that much on myself when there are so many bigger things to worry about, like my student loans or the fact that my meditation app keeps sending push notifications about unfinished sessions. Do you think spending on little luxuries like this counts as self, care or just avoidance?

This resonates so much with what I've been going through lately.

Oh I feel this in my bones. Sending you so much love right now.

Standing ovation from me. This needed to be said.

Haven't posted in a while but this made me want to chime in. You're so right about this.

This hit home for me. I've had a similar experience and it's reassuring to see others share.

Just want to say I appreciate everyone who contributes to threads like these.
