Finally unpacked my divorce journals, and the red flags shook me.
Quote from barbara on August 28, 2026, 2:09 pmI walked into Target yesterday for groceries and found myself staring at the self, care aisle. There were so many options for face masks and fancy lotions. It hit me how long it’s been since I did something just for me without guilt. Last month I finally cancelled that subscription box I kept meaning to get to. Maybe that’s why the Target aisle felt like both an opportunity and a tiny mountain to climb.
I know I’m not alone in rebuilding, but my kids are older now and my evenings are my own again. Last week I started a new book, and I realized I’ve been reading mostly parenting blogs and news lately. It’s been a while since I picked up something purely for pleasure.
Has anyone here had a moment lately where you surprised yourself by making a choice just for you?
